Thomas F. Sweeney IV

October 3, 1954 ~ August 2, 2017 (age 62) 62 Years Old


Thomas F. Sweeney IV, 62, of North Wildwood, formerly of Mantua Twp. and Folsom, PA., passed peacefully at his home, on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Predeceased by his loving parents Thomas and Shirley Sweeney III.  Beloved husband of Linda S. Sweeney (nee Greenwood) for 36 years.  Devoted father of Melissa (Christopher) Branco and Thomas (Courtney) Sweeney V.  Loving grandfather of Kara Rae, Thomas VI, and soon to be baby boy Christopher Jr.

Thomas served his country honorably in the U.S, Navy. Prior to retiring, Thomas worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard and the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia.

Before moving to Wildwood, Thomas lived in Mantua Twp., he served on the Mantua Twp. Recreational Committee, where he was honored by the mayor for all that he did for the community. He also helped form the Chestnut Branch Park.  Thomas was the owner of a local favorite, Kavanagh’s Irish Pub & Grill.  He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He loved all sports. Penn State & Villanova were his favorite college teams. He enjoyed coaching baseball for Sewell and football for Clearview where he was the Founder and President of Clearview youth football and cheerleading.  While living in North Wildwood, Tom became a member of the North Wildwood Elks Organization and was a parishioner of the Notre Dame de La Mer Parish of Wildwood.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Sunday 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 420 S. Main St., Williamstown and Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Parish / Nativity Church, 2677 Delsea Dr., Franklinville.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM.  Interment with Military Honors at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
