Graduated 3rd in her class from St. John’s elementary. Finished her education at Blessed Sacrament Commercial school, class of 1956. Married on June 30 1956 to Avelino Leonen. A mother of 7, she would often sew and crochet clothes for her children. She re-entered the workforce in the early 1970s as a production worker for Remcor, followed by a long career at Decora of Williamstown where she rose from production worker to screen room supervisor and union negotiator. In her later years she traveled to Europe, Africa, Singapore, Hawaii and the Philippines where she was able to meet her husband’s family in Gapan City and travel to her father’s village of Mangaldan. A wonderful storyteller and conversationalist, an avid reader, traveller and fan of rock and country, Dolores instilled in her children and grandchildren a love of learning, travel, books, and music. She loved the beach, shopping, Disney World, cooking (maker of the world’s best chocolate pies!), and was fiercely protective of her family. She gave great advice and was a sympathetic listener when needed. Famous for her sharp wit and sarcastic sense of humor, and revered as the family matriarch, Dolores brought love and light to all who knew her and will be sorely missed.
