Edward J. Douglas, Jr., 67, passed peacefully and with dignity on Saturday, February 11, 2017 after a courageous 3 and half year battle with cancer.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Delmira (nee Saseen), his devoted sons, Edward (Karrie) Douglas III and Andrew (Stephanie) Douglas, and the 4 greatest joys of his life his grandchildren, Hannah, Addison, Gavin and Avery. Ed is also survived by his caring siblings, Peg Douglas, Kathleen (Gregory) Hilton and Daniel J. Douglas, his nephews, Patrick Hilton and Mark Hilton and many cousins.
Ed had a wonderful career in education, beginning his career in Camden, NJ as an elementary school teacher and retiring from the technology department of Monroe Twp. Public Schools. It was in Monroe Twp. where Ed began his coaching career that continued in retirement and even continued when he moved to Florida. He touched many lives in Williamstown High School through his coaching, mentoring, and helping many students get well deserved college scholarships. Ed was respected and loved by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, February 17th from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 420 S. Main St., Williamstown, NJ 08094. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, February 18th at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 331 8th St. South, Brigantine, NJ 08203. Cremation private. A Mass and a Celebration of Life is planned in the The Villages, FL at a later date.
