Helen S. (Tello) Sandelier

May 3, 1920 ~ February 18, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old


Helen Sophie Sandelier (nee Tello), 96, of Clayton, born May 3,1920 in Bridgeton, formerly of Williamstown, passed at home under Bayada Hospice care, surrounded by her loving children.

Helen is predeceased by her loving parents Joseph and Sophie Tello. Beloved wife of the late Robert Sandelier.  Devoted mother of Jeanne (David) Schoellkopf, Robert (Dona) Sandelier, Susan Sandelier, and Kathleen Sandelier. Dear sister of Viola Char, the late Samuel Trello, the late Mary Kucher, the late Joseph Tello and the late Francis Tello.  Loving grandmother of Stacy (Thomas) Smith, Susan Schoellkopf, and Christa (Eduardo) Lopez.  Loving great grandmother of Daniel, Nathaniel, and Alex.

Helen was one of the original members of St. Catherine of Siena Church and of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was an original member of Twigs (Auxiliary to Underwood Memorial Hospital making puppets for the pediatric floor).  She also was a member of Sinawik of Clayton (Wives of Kiwanis Members) hosting events to raise funds for scholarships for students.

Helen’s greatest joy of all was caring for her family.

Helen, her husband and her children operated Sandelier and Co. Inc. (Welders), in Clayton, NJ and Sandy’s Island, Inc. (Campground) in the Aura section of Elk Twp., NJ.

Helen and her husband hosted many social events and fund raisers at their home as well as their campground for St. Catherine of Siena Church, Convent and School and Elmer Community Hospital.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, February 23rd from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Parish / St. Catherine of Siena Church, 700 N. Delsea Dr., Clayton.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM.  Interment Cedar Green Cemetery, 251 E. Academy St., Clayton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Helen’s name to Bayada Hospice at Inspira Health, 603 North Broad Street, Suite 301, Woodbury, N.J., 08096.

Arrangements are under the direction of the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, Williamstown.
