James Fortunato, 97, of Sicklerville, on Saturday, November 24, 2018, passed away peacefully after a long, well lived faithful life to God and his family.
“Jimmy” was born in Philadelphia to Joseph and Mary Fortunato. Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Louisville, during World War II. He was an instrumental member in the early days of the Sicklerville Fire Department. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church, the Knights of Columbus Mater Christi Council #3352 and a 4th Degree member of the C.J. Archbishop Damiano Assembly in Williamstown.
Jimmy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching Phillies Baseball and playing Knock Rummy with his Brother Knights.
Beloved husband of the late Louise (nee Gargano). Devoted father of James (Paulette) Fortunato Jr. and Nicholas (Joann) Fortunato. Loving grandfather of James (Cheyenne), Alec, Melanie, Matthew (Becky), Patricia, Michelle, Joseph (Tiffany) and Nicole (John). Loving great grandfather of Justin (Dottie), Alyssa (River), Josiah, Hannah, Marielle, Gracie, Bella, Jordyn, Matthias, Gianna and Kenzie. Loving great-great grandfather of Zachary and River. Loving uncle of several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Augustino, Michael, Charles, Anthony, Joseph Fortunato and his sisters Rachel Fortunato, Anna Descano and Angie Mase.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, November 29th from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Peace Parish / St. Mary’s Church, Main St. & Carroll Ave., Williamstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 PM. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Williamstown.
