Steven Lyons Obituary

Steven Douglas Lyons, 43, of Williamstown, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 after his tragic battle with esophageal cancer.

Beloved son of Daniel Lyons Jr. and the late Sandra Lyons. Model father of Fallyn and Gannon Lyons.  Amazing brother of Danielle (Patrick) Montgomery.“Badass” Uncle  of Alexandra, Dylan and Megan Montgomery.  Also survived by the mother of his children Chrissy Gray and his extensive circle of friends. He touched all of our hearts individually and deeply.

He began his career right after graduation from Williamstown High School with the Gallagher Construction company Carpenters Union Local 8, in which he served as Foreman and most recently with Advanced Commercial Interiors. Steve had an unshakeable work ethic. He had never called out sick a day before he began his battle with cancer.
Steve had loving relationships with an incredible amount of people; his friends were his family. He is described by those who were closest to him as having an easy going nature and an infectious smile that lit up a room. He was always happy to patiently instruct, whether on the slopes, on the water, fishing, throwing horseshoes, ripping through the woods, baseball... all of it. He loved sharing his passions and taught us how to live everyday with enthusiasm and excitement and to take advantage of the time we share together.  Steve had uncanny skills that we teased made him not just a barroom athlete,  but the pool room “Hall of Famer”. Steve was always calm, cool and accepting.  He became a pitcher whose arm and aim was spot on. He transitioned from the playpen (where he would target his sister with his toys),  to the bull pen with Monroe Township Little League. He has passed down his zest for sports to his children. He coached the town kids and everyone knew Steve on the sidelines as he never missed an opportunity to offer his support. Wherever Fallyn and G were, there was Steve. From the side of the rodeo arena to the baseball diamond, hockey rink or soccer field.

His family describes him in his last year as a heroic, protective father whose sole purpose was ensuring a stable future for his children. He had so much more to teach them. He lived every moment, as always, with and for them. Fallyn remembers how proud Steve was to load his Toyota 4x4  to beach camp with his loved ones. "He had the grill, the tents, the chairs, he would set up at the Cove and cook tenderloins for all of us." It was what he could do for others that made him smile.

Steve was just... good. Spending time with him made you want to be a better person. The world is a bit sweeter, a better place because Steve was in it. He was simply “The Best”.
