Carol Ann Virian Obituary

Carol Ann Virian (Elderkin), of Yukon, OK, formerly of Williamston, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Carol was an elder in the Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe of Seekonk, MA, worked as a home health aide for many years before retiring.  She was an active member of her church where she enjoyed singing and helping with missionary work. She was known for wearing hats and became affectionately known as the “hat lady” at the Trinity UMC in Clayton, NJ. She enjoyed listening to religious music, singing hymns, sending cards and letters, reading/listening to books and attending Pow Wows held by the Wampanoag tribe. Although legally blind, Carol would crochet by counting the stitches and made beautiful, crocheted bracelets, headbands and hanging kitchen towels for everyone to enjoy.  She loved her family, friends and enjoyed all the memories they made together.

Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Virian. Devoted mother of Carol Jean (Richard) Wright, Laura Virian (Al Poteat) and Joseph Virian.  Dear sister of Violet Elderkin, Paul Elderkin, the late Winifred “Moto” Elderkin, late Ruth Caporoletti, late Dave Elderkin, late John Elderkin, late Grace Wood, late Roland “Rolly” Elderkin, late Victor Elderkin and late Richard Elderkin.  Loving grandmother of Joshua Powell (Tanessa), Ryan Wright, Matthew Virian and Elizabeth Virian.  Loving great grandmother of Graeson Powell,TayGan Roberts and Tahlia Van Fleet. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday, May 7th from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 420 S. Main St., Williamstown. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
