Chester Barry Mullen, known to everyone simply as Barry, age 76, of Franklinville, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Barry was a man of few words but a lifetime of action. Funny, sarcastic in the best way, dependable to his core, and endlessly hardworking. He never missed a game, a milestone, or a moment that mattered to his family. If something was broken, he fixed it. If someone needed help, he was already on his way.
Above all else, Barry loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband to his wife Pat Mullen, a proud father to Jared Mullen (wife Gina) and Britney Mullen, and an adoring grandfather to Khloe, Alexis, and Lincoln and several nieces and nephews who brought him endless joy and pride.
Barry spent 30 years at Verizon as a Cable splicer before retiring, then went on to start his own irrigation business because slowing down was never really his style.
When Barry wasn’t working, he was enjoying the simple things he loved most. He treasured golfing with his friends, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, playing cards, and coaching Volleyball alongside Pat. Together, they helped start the very first volleyball team in the Camden Diocese. He also loved drag racing his Corvettes and often came home with wins… unless Pat beat him first. They loved driving so much they even built their house on the quarter mile strip they used to race on.
Barry leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, laughter and unconditional love. Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the years, the memories, and the steady presence he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barry’s visitation on Wednesday, February 4th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Peace Parish / St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Main St. & Carroll Ave., Williamstown. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 PM. Cremation private.
