Dolores M. Sulpizio (nee Schlembach), born July 21,1936 in Philadelphia, PA, after a long illness, surrounded by her family at home, was called by the Lord from her earthly life to her everlasting life on June 28, 2020 at the age of 83 years.
Loving and beloved wife of Anthony F. Sulpizio for 63 years, daughter of Joseph and Yolanda (Frattarola) Schlembach. Loving, devoted, and selfless mother of Anthony J. (Karen), Lisa Bruno (Anthony), Michael (Lisa), and Gregory. Grandmother of Joseph Sulpizio (Rebecca), Anthony Bruno (Kristin), and Andrea Singley (Sean). Great-grandmother of Gabriella Sulpizio and Hunter Singley. Daughter-in-law of Benvenuto and Anna Sulpizio. Friend to many.
Native South Philadelphians Dolores and Tony were married at St. Monica Church in 1957. In the mid-1960s, they moved their young family to Washington Township, where they raised them with love and faith. After their children were grown, Dolores worked as a teacher’s aide for special needs students in Washington Township Schools. Dolores and Tony enjoyed camping with their family and friends, especially at the Jersey Shore, and gained many close friends through this pastime. After Tony’s retirement, they moved to Williamstown. There, they cared for Dolores’ mother, Yolanda, for several years. Dolores’ courage, especially in her later years as she battled illness, was an inspiration to everyone around her. “How ya doin’, Mom?” Usually, “good!” Sometimes, “Mezza Mezz” (Italian – “half and half”). We knew that “good” days were challenging and “Mezza Mezz” days were really tough, despite her reluctance to complain. Tony’s efforts to help her and keep her at home – where she wanted to be - were heroic.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, July 3rd from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at the Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home, 420 South Main Street, Williamstown, NJ 08094, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, 32 Carroll Avenue, Williamstown, NJ 08094.
