After a brief illness, Evelyn Serad Nichols, aged 76, slipped away on September 29, 2019. Born in Philadelphia to Mary and Samuel Serad, she was raised in Williamstown, the only daughter of four children. She and her late husband, Albert Nichols, were married in 1975 and had one child, Amy Carpinelli.
Evelyn previously was the office manager and bookkeeper for Ackerman Realty in Vineland before she retired. She enjoyed sewing and needlework and was known for her embroidered holiday cards. She loved to travel with her family and even crossed in Arctic Circle in 1997. She was an avid bird-watcher and could identify most South Jersey birds by sight and sound. She served as a 4-H leader in Cumberland County and was Secretary of the 4-H Leaders’ Association in 1986.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Samuel, her beloved husband, Albert, and two brothers, Walter and Louis Serad. She is survived by her daughter, Amy (The Rev. Kenneth) Carpinelli; granddaughter, Mary Rachel Carpinelli; a brother, William Serad; step-daughter, Jennifer (John) Beale and her daughters, Kelsi and Courtney; sisters-in-law, Marion Serad, Virginia Nichols, and Barbara Rudolph; several nieces and nephews and cousins; and her dear friends. She was met at the Rainbow Bridge by her favorite doggies – Me-too, Chin Chu, and Mei Mei.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday, October 1st from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 420 S. Main Street, Williamstown and Wednesday, October 2nd from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 212 N. Main Street, Glassboro, NJ 08028. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Williamstown.
