Garry Passio Obituary

Garry Passio, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, surrounded by love and with family by his side. He was born on October 14, 1955, in Philadelphia, PA, to Nicholas and Margaret Passio (Nee Schiaffo)

Garry is survived by his beloved daughter, Gianna Passio, and her mother, Gina Passio. Predeceased by his brother Nicholas (Barbara) Passio lll.

Also survived by his sister, Marlene Zangari (Pete Zangari), his brother, Robert Passio (Maryanne Passio), sister Donna Passio Guzzo and his cousin who was more like a brother, Sylvio Esposito (Jeannine Esposito), along with many other cherished cousins. He will also be deeply missed by his 11 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

He was raised in Timber Lakes in Williamstown, Garry enjoyed a childhood surrounded by a tight-knit group of friends and a community he cherished. Garry’s first job was Saber Plumbing Supply here in Williamstown before he entered in the casino industry. Working for many years at Bally’s in Atlantic City and later at the Hard Rock in Tampa where he resided.

Garry’s true passion, however, was music. A skilled drummer, he loved playing in local bands wherever life took him. Music was not just a hobby, but a core part of who he was, and it was a way for him to connect with others. Garry was also devoted to preserving his family’s traditions, having marched in his first Mummers Parade at just three years old and continued to do so throughout his life. Garry and his cousins also kept the Passio Fife and Drum band tradition alive throughout the neighborhoods of Philadelphia on New Year’s Eve. He was proud of his heritage and eagerly looked forward to the New Year’s celebrations, always making sure to make it home for the parade.

A family man through and through, Garry’s love for his relatives and friends was evident in everything he did. He was always just a phone call away, ready to listen, offer advice, or simply share a laugh. No matter the time of day or night, Garry made sure to stay connected with the people he cared about most.

Garry will be remembered for his warm heart, his unwavering loyalty, and his ability to make everyone feel like family. His passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his legacy of love, music, and family will live on forever.

Rest in peace, Garry. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
