James W. "Mickey" McGarrigle, 82, of Collings Lakes, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at his home in the comfort of his loving family.
Born and raised in Clifton Heights, PA, he moved to Collings Lakes, Nj where he resided for 44 years. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1959. Mickey started his electrician career with Lex Electric and retired from Local 351 in Folsom, NJ. He could be seen playing Santa for Cecil Fire Company for many years.
Mickey had a love for sports especially Notre Dame and the Eagles. He went on trips annually to watch Eagle games with the guys. His favorite though was watching his grandchildren playing ball. He loved John Wayne, Neil Diamond, taking sunrise pictures, eating Pop-Pop pops with his grandchildren and making people laugh. He referred to himself as a lucky Irishman and said his best days were those when he was surrounded by his family. He made a friend everywhere he went and told stories to anyone who would listen. He always dressed to impress and could be seen everywhere with his famous red Irish hat.
Beloved husband of Geraldine “Deany” (nee Brida) for 49 years. Devoted father of Michele (Barrie) Palmer, Sean McGarrigle, Kelly (Bryan) Chew and Megan (Ray) Mazanek. Dear brother of Barbara (Cliff) Kopf and the late Michael McGarrigle. Loving grandfather of Jesse, Georgia, Taylor, Sabryna, Tyler, Ryan, Emma, Charlie and India. Loving great grandfather of Marley-Jo. Dear brother-in-law of Anthony (Karen) Brida, Ralph (Cheryl) Brida and Terry (Patty) Brida. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, June 7th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lakes R.C. Church, 19 Malaga Rd., Williamstown, NJ 08094. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 PM. Cremation private.
