John A. Glassmire, “Jake”, 59, of Williamstown, tragically passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020.
Beloved son of the late Samuel and late Catherine Glassmire. Dear brother of Samuel “Bumpy” Glassmire, Karen Connor, and the late Robert Glassmire. Loving uncle of Lisa Glassmire, Maribeth (Brian) Hill, Samantha Connor, John Connor III, Catherine (Ernest) Gerber, Jennifer Glassmire and Robert Glassmire. Loving great-uncle of Madison, Jonathan, Baby Gerber, Graham and Gavin. He is survived by his extended family The Hennessy’s: Diane and the late Robert A. Hennessy, Robert (Amy) Hennessy and Patrick (Jennifer) Hennessy, along with their children whom all adored “Jake.” He is also survived by many loving friends.
To know Jake was to love him. He was a simple man with a heart of gold. He was always willing to give a helping hand. He was the ultimate die-hard Philadelphia sports fan. He was very passionate about Villanova Basketball, the Eagles, Phillies and 76ers. The 1985, 2016 & 2018 Villanova Championships, the1980 & 2008 Phillies World Series and the Eagles 2017 Super Bowl brought him so much joy. Growing up, he was a great athlete, basketball was his favorite sport to play and he also was an excellent basketball coach for many years. He loved people, a good time and especially a good party.To him everyone was his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, July 31st from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and on Saturday, August 1st from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 420 South Main St., Williamstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Parish / St. Mary’s RC Church, 32 Carroll Ave., Williamstown. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Williamstown.
