Kenneth Richardson Obituary

Kenneth Edward Richardson of Williamstown, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Jefferson Hospital, Washington Twp, NJ with his devoted wife Shara and son Kenneth, at his side.

Kenneth was born on July 31,1969 at Presbyterian/United Hospital (Newark, NJ) to Willie and Brenda Richardson.  He was the second oldest of their three children.

Kenneth attended multiple schools within the Newark school system. They included: Muhammad University of Islam School, Avon Avenue Elementary School (where he skipped the 3rd grade), Project Link Middle School, Seton Hall University for their Upper Bound Program before graduating from Science High School.

Kenneth continued his education and attended William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ.

Kenneth began his career at Verizon right after college and was employed with them for over 30 years.  First, in Operative Services (Union, NJ), Supply Attendant, (Piscataway, NJ), Repair Service Clerk, (Paterson, NJ), and Network Technician, (Newark, Mt. Laurel, Robbinsville and most recently Ocean View, NJ).

Kenneth was a dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – Local 827.  He attended countless Union meetings, picket lines, and respected all Strikes during contract negotiations.

Kenneth was a devoted father, husband, son, brother and friend.  Kenneth had a sense of humor that lit up any room.  He loved coaching and attending all his son’s sports.  He was also an active Board Member of the Monroe Township Youth Basketball League and loved helping and giving back to the community in any way he could.  Also, Kenneth and Shara have been Foster Parents for over 10 years nurturing, loving and caring for dozens of children in their home.

Kenneth loved music and in his spare time would DJ parties, backyard barbeques and weddings for fun.  DJ’ing was something he started in college to make extra money.

Kenneth was a hard-working man, often working overtime and holidays to support his family with anything they needed or wanted.

Kenneth was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia 76’ers fan and would attend as many games as he could.

In addition to his lovely wife of 15 years Shara and son Kenneth (Gregory), he is survived by his father and mother, Willie and Brenda Richardson of Toms River, NJ; his sister/brother-in-law – Mrs. Sonya Goodrich Richardson (Shadeed) of Sayreville, NJ;  his brother - Mr. Waleed Richardson of Newark, NJ; his mother-in-law – Gwendolyn Gregory of Hillside, NJ, and two brother-in-law's – Jason Gregory of East Orange, NJ and Mark Tenson of Hillside, NJ and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
