We mourn the passing of Khalid Taher Abed, 92, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle on Monday, March 9, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. His heart broken, he follows the love of his life and wife of 63 years, who passed on February 29, 2020.
Khalid was born in Al-Mazra’a Ash-Sharqiya, Palestine on April 27, 1927 to Taher Abed and Sarah Shibley. He came to the United States with his father and uncle in 1948, and they settled in Queens, New York. In 1955, he met the love of his life, Shiela, in a restaurant in New York City. They married a year later, living in Queens, New York, until finally settling in Williamstown, NJ in 1968, where they raised their 7 children. Their love was true and everlasting and could not be extinguished even in death.
Khalid is predeceased by his beloved wife, Shiela, of over 63 years and survived by his loving children, Sareh (Bijan) Yashaya, Essam (Ada) Abed, Selwa (Brian) Grandison, Aziz (Rima) Abed, Siham Abed, Joseph (Meya) Abed, and Jeneen Abed, along with 13 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his celebrate his life at Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home, 420 S. Main Street, Williamstown, NJ on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Prayer services to follow at 12:30 pm at Al Bayan Islamic Learning Center/Mosque located at 75 S. Black Horse Pike,#2, Blackwood NJ, 856-227-2797; Burial to follow at 2:00 pm at Bethel Memorial Park, 1620 Cove Road, Pennsauken, NJ.
