Lewis Creamer, Jr., 96, of Williamstown, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born November 22, 1927, in Paulsboro, (Billingsport) NJ (near Ft. Billings). Lewis enlisted in the Army, August 1948 and took basic training at 82nd Airborne, Ft. Bragg, NC. At the completion of his basic training, he went on shore leave, then shipped out to Germany, December of 1948 and was assigned to the 2nd Bn. 14th Armored Calvary, 7th Army. He went to school to be a radio operator (Morse Code) and became a communications Sgt. His outfit moved to Bad Kissingen, Germany, and he re-enlisted to serve 3 more years for a total of 6 years. He received an Honorable Discharge in June 1954, and received the Good Conduct Medal and Occupational Medal while in Germany. He joined and became a lifelong member of the VFW. He also joined the Coast Guard Aux. and became Commander in just two years. Then joined the American Legion in Pine Hill where he resided for 30 years before moving to Williamstown.
Prior to retiring, Lewis was a truck driver for Matlack Inc. in Swedesboro. He enjoyed fishing and boating on the Bass River in Mullica Twp.
Beloved husband of Faith (nee Beckershoff) for 47 years. Devoted father of Michael (Cynthia) Creamer and Michelle (Steven) Craig. Dear brother of the late Alexander (Joyce) Creamer, late Rebecca Creamer and late Grace (late Don) Wilkins. Loving grandfather of Courtney (Reese) Stern, Tara (Jon) Williams, Colin Craig, Matthew (Jessica) Kitchens, Mark Kitchens and Steven (Sara) Cowart. Loving great grandfather of Levi, Miles, Joshua, Steven, Alyssa, Gabriella, Gabriel, Logan, Madison and Alexis.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, January 19th from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Parish / St. Mary’s RC Church, 32 Carroll Ave., Williamstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Williamstown.
