Mary Quitsch (nee Ingram), age 69, of Whiting, NJ passed away September 30th after a 7-year long battle with breast cancer.
Mary was born to the late Stephen and Mary Ingram, July 9, 1951 in Queens, NY. She graduated from Jamaica Vocational High School in 1968.
She married Gay Quitsch on September 19, 1970, and they lived together in New York for 24 years before relocating to Florida in 1994, and finally retiring in Whiting in 2013. Mary is survived by her husband, Gay Quitsch, as well as her three children: Marc Quitsch (of Staten Island), Lisa Quitsch (of Tampa, FL), and Samantha Downing (of Tampa, FL); her four grandchildren: Tiffany Slater (of Staten Island), Thomas Yannotti (of Tampa, FL), Marc Quitsch, Jr. (of Staten Island), Mason Quitsch (of Staten Island), as well as her great grandson: Noah Slater (of Staten Island). She is also survived by her four siblings: Stephen Ingram (of Brooklyn); Karen Kuhl (of Spring Hill), Dianne Sarcone (of Staten Island) and Kevin Ingram (of Long Island). Special references to her other loved ones: Janine Quitsch, Aaron Downing, and Jack Slater.
Mary was an amazing mother, wife and friend, with an incredibly positive outlook on life. She was extremely proud of her family, a caretaker at heart and leaves behind beautiful memories and life mantras, including the reminder to “Unwrap every day as a present from the Lord.”
There will be a live streamed video of a small family service in Mary’s memory at 1 pm on Sunday, October 4th. Due to COVID-19, a formal gathering will be postponed until safe.
In lieu of flowers, you can make donations to RWJBarnabas Health who treated Mary when she was first diagnosed with cancer in 2013.
