Matthew P. Gilliano, 76, of Franklinville, passed peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, May 25, 2023, with his loving family by his side.
Matt was a Union Truck Driver for 31 years, and retired from STS Motor Freight in Philadelphia. He was known as “Matty G, the Quarterback of DooWop” for his love of music, supplying DJ’s and radio stations across the country with tapes and CD’s of his vast music collection. He even earned the prestigious “Keeping Music Alive” award.
Matt was a “Thrift Store and Yard Sale Junkie”, always searching for a unique treasure. Spending time down the shore in Wildwood with his beloved family and friends was a favorite pastime. He also enjoyed visiting the Poconos, hunting and fishing with his four sons, family and friends. He touched many lives and will be sadly missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him.
He enjoyed group harmony with his friends, especially Billy and Joe. As teenagers, they could be found harmonizing on the street corners and kitchens of Philadelphia.
Beloved husband of Kathleen Gilliano (nee McPeake). Devoted father of Matthew, John, Richard, and Chris (Denise) Gilliano. Dear brother of Joseph (Linda) Gilliano, the late George (late Rose) Gilliano, late Mike (Janet) Gilliano and late Loretta Gilliano and his many nieces and nephews. Loving grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, June 3rd from 9:00-11:00 am at the Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home, 420 South Main St., Williamstown. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be held on Monday, June 5th at 12:00 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
