Nicholas Remchuk Obituary

Nicholas Remchuck (Dido), age 101, went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2023. Born in Olesha Ukraine on February 5, 1922, Nicholas came to the USA in 1949 with his family.

He is predeceased by his wife, Kathrine Vavrenyk Remchuck. He had 3 daughters, Nadja Atkinson (Bobby), Lesia Deinarowicz (James), Olga Molineux (Bill), and one son, Nicholas Paul Remchuck (Jamie). He had 10 grandchildren, Natalie Hughes (Frank), Joseph Magliocco (Lisa), John Magliocco, Nicholas Deinarowicz (Kelli), Jannette Barachko (Jeff), Robert Atkinson, Christina Phippen (Dano), Duane Lochten (Leslie), Matthew Remchuck (Lisa), Nicholas Remchuck (Ashley). He had 20 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews in his beloved homeland and countless friends throughout his life.

Nicholas was a hardworking man. When he was not farming, teaching, or working at the old Jack Frost Sugar Factory, you could find him outside, working on cars, or enjoying and exploring all things nature. His most prized possession outdoors was his cherished walnut tree, although any other tree was fair game for chopping.  Nicholas enjoyed spending his time fishing, traveling the world, taking walks and riding his bike. As a self-proclaimed comedian, Nicholas was known for getting people to smile and laugh. He was proud of the life he made in America, but nothing made him prouder than his heritage. The last thing he said two days before his passing was, “I’m from Stanivslav, I do what I want!” Stanivslav was an Oblast in western Ukraine, now called Ivana Frankivsk. Proof that Ukie spirit never wanes.

Donations in Nicholas Remchuck’s name can be made to World Central Kitchen (wck.org) providing meals to people impacted by disasters all over the world. Most recently feeding those in need in Ukraine, Turkey, and Syria.
