Ruth Elizabeth Jaroch, age 93, peacefully entered her rest August 10, 2023, in the home of her daughter, Marge Jaroch Eveland & son-in-law, Robert J. Eveland, Saluda VA. Born August 2, 1930, to William G. ("Smitty") & Dorothy (Channell) Schmitt in Cecil NJ, Ruth was a dedicated "Jersey girl" until her health required her to move to VA & be cared for by her daughter.
Ruth retired as a Dietary Aide from Camden County Health Services/Lakeland. Animal & Nature lover, she enjoyed houseplants, also raised outdoor flowers as her Daddy had done. Ruth was skilled in making lovely crafts & crocheted beautifully. They were amazing, creative works of art!
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sister Doris, brothers William & Lawrence, & great-grandson, Arlo. Her husband of 20 years, Joe Jaroch & her companion of 35 years, Horace Williamson both predeceased her in 2006; very hurtful for her, but she found solace in (cherished dog) "Foofie," as well as her cats.
In addition to her daughter & son-in-law, survived by granddaughter Victoria Fearing (Gabriel), who in the last weeks of her life brought much joy to Grandma; great-granddaughters Olivia, Millie, and Adalynn; great-grandsons Seamus, Jedidiah, and Falcon. Also to cherish her memory: Cousins Hazel Koehler of Williamstown NJ & Josephine Schmitt Malitsky of Philadelphia PA. Nephew Tom Schmitt often sacrificed time from his family to help with "man chores," & niece Dorothy Schmitt was a devoted companion. Also survived by nieces Cheryl Tartaglione, Lorraine Schmitt, Linda Kitchens Miller; nephews Allen & Larry Kitchens, Michael Schmitt, Larry "Fireball" Schmitt, & two grandsons.
Loving appreciation to neighbors Jack & Marie Hogan of Williamstown, & to her devoted caregiver, Emma Osborne. Heartfelt gratitude for RN Joanne Moeller, CNA Missy Anderson, & other staff of Promedica Hospice, Newport News VA, & to Mary Arthur (Bay Aging), all of whom often enjoyed Ruth's humor! Sincere appreciation for Vincent Funeral Home in West Point, VA. Thank you, Susan Lausevic, Roanoke VA for this comforting, poignant reminder: "God is in control; He is laying to rest all the feeble as this world runs its final, evil course."
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, August 31st from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home, 420 S. Main St., Williamstown. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial Piney Hollow Methodist Church Cemetery, Newfield.
Those who desire can donate in Ruth's memory per her wishes to Delta Animal Rescue (PO Box 9 Glendale CA 91209). Ruth also asks that people remember the Lord, pray, make time to appreciate the beauty of Nature, & be kind to animals.
