Obituary

Terry R. Slater, 73, of Folsom, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, April 27, 2023, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Butler, PA, Terry was Baptized Lutheran and after marriage he supported his wife and family in the Catholic faith, later in life converting to Catholicism. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, who spent time stationed overseas in Korea.  After the military, he became a sheet metal worker and welder for Local 19, retiring after 33 years.  In 1973, Terry met the love of his life Linda, they married and moved to Folsom, NJ where they created and raised a beautiful family together.  He was a knowledgeable man who loved to learn new things.  He enjoyed coaching baseball and soccer. Later learning how to play soccer himself at 40 years old.  He was an avid Philadelphia Sports fan who enjoyed the excitement of a good Flyers, Phillies or Eagles game.  Golf became a passion of his after retirement, even shooting two holes-in-one at White Oaks Country Club (his favorite golf course).  He loved traveling with his wife and family, visiting many states across the USA.  Hawaii and Maine being their favorite.  He also loved traveling to Niagra Falls and taking in all of its beauty.

Terry will be remembered as a hardworking, dedicated and loving man who enjoyed life and the time he spent with his beloved family.  He was a friend to all and will be sadly missed by all of those who knew him.  

Predeceased by his father Charles Slater and his mother Louise & his Pap John Stahl who raised him.  Beloved husband of Linda Slater (nee Rose) for 49 Years.  Devoted father of Daniel (Jennifer) Slater, David (Olivia) Slater and the late Thomas Slater.  Terry shared a special closeness with his late brother Chuck (Jeanie) Slater.  Dear brother of John (Diane) Stahl, Marilyn Stahl, and late Barbara (late Michael) Meglino. Dear brother-in-law of Thomas (Rhonda) Rose and Edward (Jacqueline) Rose.  Loving grandfather of Jenna, Danni, Kaya and Mia.  Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, May 6th from 10:00 – 11:15 AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 19 Malaga Rd., Collings Lakes.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association @ www.alz.org or to The USO to support America’s Troops @ www.uso.org.
