Vivian was born in Manhattan, New York on December 2,1936, the daughter of the late Richard Randolph and Janet Robinson. She passed away in Samaritan Life - Enhancing Care at the age of 85 on August 15, 2022, where she joined the Church Triumphant. She will be greatly missed for her generosity and genuine concern for others. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she touched and interacted with. In 1954, the family moved to Amityville, Long Island, where she spent most of her life.
Viv graduated from Amityville Memorial High School in 1955, where she majored in Home Economics (Culinary Arts). Toward the end of her junior year, she found out that her favorite teacher was taking a leave of absence and she wanted to do something very special for her. Vivian wanted to have a baby shower for her teacher. So, she went to the department chairperson and persuaded the chairperson to let her plan, organize, and prepare for this special occasion. This was unprecedented, never before had a public-school classroom been used for such an occasion, it was unheard of. But, leave it to Vivian to convince the department chairwoman to allow her to take on such a tremendous task. She was given full permission to carry on with her plans. Vivian catered the entire affair by herself. This shower was the talk of the school. From that point on Vivian used her skills to cater birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, and of course baby showers; she was amazing!
Vivian was passionate about cooking. She was always creating something different and delicious. Viv loved cooking, she especially enjoyed watching people consume the elaborate meals she prepared and the succulent-delicious desserts she created. Feed you, she would, share her recipes and special ingredients, she would not. Viv was a compassionate person with a huge heart. If you were homeless, she would take you in; if you were hungry, she would feed you; if you had no money, she would share what she had with you. If you were hurting, she would gladly offer spiritual guidance and prayer. Vivian loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind, she was not ashamed of Him. One of her favorite Bible readings was from the Book of Jeremiah Chapter 33:3 (Call unto Me and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not).
For many years, Viv worked as a PC Assembler, for the Grumman Aerospace Corporation located in Bethpage, New York. Before relocating to South Jersey Vivian was joined in marriage to Joseph B. Miller (deceased), and from this union they had three sons. Joseph (Buddy), William (Bill), and Steven. Vivian and Chester G. Sharp were married in 1969, together they had one son, Chester G. Sharp II. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Joseph and brother Steven. She is survived by sons William (Monique) Maryland, Steven (Claudrene) New Jersey, Chester (Tricia) New Jersey, five grandchildren: Genae, Aliyah, Chester III, Tiara, Myiah, one great grandchild Billi, and one sister Thelma (Fredrick). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
