William Harold Wedler, age 70, of Williamstown, NJ and formerly of the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Sunday, April 16, 2023, after a long illness.
Beloved husband of 51 years to Marla J. Wedler (nee Askins). Devoted father of Jeanine (Jerry) Dowd and Matthew (Beth) Wedler. Dear brother of Marie (Joe) Ginion and Ann (Ed) Dolecki. Loving grandfather (“Poppy”) of Chase Dowd, Adam Wedler, and Maeve Wedler. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Marie Wedler
Bill was a graduate Northeast Catholic High School in 1970. He had a long career working for the US Navy at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and later the Navy Crane Center as a contract specialist.
Bill met his wife and love of his life, Marla, when they were 17 and they were married in 1971. He was a devoted family man who steadfastly supported his family’s needs and provided unconditional love. To Bill, family meant everything. He was an avid handy man and remodeled or built anything his family (or anyone) needed. No job was too big. Bill spent the warm months on the beaches and bays in Strathmere, NJ with family and friends enjoying a good laugh, boating, gazing at the surf, sunsets, moonrises, and watching the tides.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, April 21st from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 420 South Main St., Williamstown, NJ. Memorial Services will follow at 12:00 PM.
