Joseph Dougherty, 70, of Cedarbrook, NJ, formerly of Philadelphia, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at his home with his wife Lorraine, along with his son Michael (Stephanie) Dougherty and daughter Andrea (Robert) Broughton at his side. Joe had many loves but his grandchildren were truly his pride and joy. He talked often to his friends and anyone else who would listen about Mirabella, Ava, Mia and Michael and he never had a bigger smile then when one or all of them was in the room.
A Philly boy born and raised, Joe came from a big family. His brothers and sisters, Fran (Frances) Dougherty, Pat (late Charles) Klotz, Ellen (late Robert) Morgan, Jack (Nancy) Dougherty and Liz (late Frank) Vogel talked often of his early love of animals and the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, Joe was happiest deep in the woods in the middle of nowhere enjoying the peace that came with it. He also had a love of gardening and cooking as was easily seen with a visit to his beautiful garden or a bite of his apple cake or sweet potato pie.
He will be missed by many but most of all by his wife Lorraine. His soul mate, partner and best friend. Married for 48 years, they truly lived life to the fullest side by side.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday 7:00 – 9:00 PM and Thursday 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the BELL-HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 420 S. Main St., Williamstown. Memorial Mass will follow 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Parish / St. Mary’s Church, Main St. & Carroll Ave., Williamstown.
